I'm so old that I'm library vintage!

Boy, do I feel old!  I have given Roxie Dunn of Kent Library some Semo dishes as well as a table that was in Wildwood when we moved in and yesterday she sent me a display that will remain in the reading room of these artifacts!   Some days I feel like an artifact or an aging reptile!  That is when I gob on the makeup, and get dressed up and go out among 'em!

I'm getting my clothes on right now and heading up to the reading room to press the glass and some flesh!

Going to pay my respect!

I believe in courtesy and respect.  I don't always do it properly but I believe in it!  When I was Semo alumni director, the staff called me "the Funeral Home kid" because I thought it was an act of respect!  Recently in a meeting with some alumni and deans, they mentioned the importance to the University of all of these visits I had made!  I said openly that my visits had nothing to do with my job; I went to show my respect and it was a lesson I learned at the feet of my parents!

I'm retired.  I still do it!  On Saturday I hired a driver and went to St. Louis to the funeral visitation for Mike Bakewell!  When I came in, his wife, the former Ketrina Coffey, was overwhelmed that I walked in!  Both of them learned their lawyer skills on the Semo Debate Squad!

There were three people that didn't think it was stupid for me to take five hous for a five minute visit:  me, Ketrina and their daughter, Claire!  And that's enough for me!

Dr Mayabb begins at Mo Delta next month

My exciting news is that Dr Trevin Mayabb of Temple, Texas will begin his medical career at Mo Delta Hospital next month!  He is the recipient of the first Dr James F Cooper Scholarship at the hospital!    His wife is also a doctor!  He has ties to East Prairie!   I can't wait to meet him!

Our family will always be grateful to Mo Delta! They held a place for Jim to work in summers when he was in Baylor!  His name lives on in a way he would want!

Busy day!

Headed for St. Louis for Mike Bakewell funeral!  Wrote on Fb today about my theology and it is going wild with shares!  Have been on a tear with water issues and BSC issues and hope that people realize that there is a difference between caring for people and expecting them to step excellently up to the plate in service!

Sara and Dan are off to Paris,  I fired my employee and hired new people who are already on it trying to get the carpet dry, etc!  John came to see me yesterday and said he had never been fired in 34 years of business!  My reply: " welcome to a new experience!  You have two checks from me and I still have a water problem!"

A day of Nurses

Yesterday I read the editorial in the paper about the exhibit on campus about the history of nursing!  Since my friend, Carol Robinson we're going to Wibbs for lunch, I thought it would be good to swing by the Crisp Hall exhibit.  And it was!  The odd thing was at Wibbs we ran into Dr Karen Hendrickson and at the building we met Dr Linda Heitman, two of our most prominent nurses!

John Welch never did get the check I sent him and he sent me a note.  I have my copy of the check but the bank has no record it was cashed so I need to go to bank this pm and stop payment on the check!  I am so tired of all this and the mold!

So I partied the rest of the day!  Went to Jim Parkersburg 90th birthday at River Campus and then a fundraiser at Gordonville Grill and ran into faculty like mad!

Harriet's birthday!

My childhood friend has a birthday today! I had Amy Galemore send fruit and she called me!  She has had my ear and back  since we were kids!  I don't know how I would have made it without her and that is the truth!   She was, in reality, the one who listened to me and fought my fights! The only one who was there for me and I have never made a truer statement!

Monday and getting weaved!

Going to shop with Debbie Bickings this morning to get my hair weaved!  I am sure to be stunning when it is over!  Glad the weather is clear and sunny and I can leave the umbrella behind!   Talked to Mark and Andrea and Rose Marie yesterday and all is well with them!  Andrea is at Durham until she starts her Ph d in Boston!    See my dining room damage!

A busy Monday!

I left early to go to beauty shop to get my hair weaved and then the day was spent visiting with my gardener and my contractor and a man who came by to pick up stray cats?and on and on!   Look at my garden and say thanks to Karel who does it all!    Life is busy and I am grateful to have such wonderful friends around to make life easy for me!

Back at the Ranch...

Spent the day yesterday at the office ranch at Semo with two Amas not yet announced and the deans and had a blast laughing at the past!  I love Mike Price and Nanci Burchell and I really like Chris mcGowen!  And the rain poured.  Bill has come into Cape in a big way!

Zachary has fixed my cracks in my dining room and we are watching it after this flood!

Can't believe the discussion and news that a high school dropout walked into AME church and shot nine black people saying they were taking over our country!  What right does he have to make such a claim!  I am livid!  When does a 21 year old druggie think he has the right to take out people because of skin color!   I am sick of guns and people who think that they have such rights!   Cmon world of America, take down the barriers and Confederate flags and get your soul and body cleansed!

Went out to eat with Dr Jeff Long and we talked a heavy load of theology!

Two meals in a day

Went to Mel's Diner in Puxico with Lana Richmond for lunch and. Had a plate lunch of meatloaf and three sides and then came home and found out Sandra Moore had made a dinner reservation at 37 downtown!  I had scallops and cream sauce and bread pudding!  It was whammo out of ballpark!

About the leak in the wall in dining room, here is where we are today:   John Welch group is here!  Last week I called them and said that although I had paid them to repair it because carpet was wet , it was wet again!   We had a hard rain last night and they are here tearing out my two walls!

Me and Tom Harte

Had lunch yesterday with Tom Harte who was on Speech Faculty and was sponsor of Hsc with me and who writes a cuisine column in paper now!  They are all heading to Alaska for 50th wedding anniversary with kids and grandkids!

It was only fitting that Donald Trump announced today!  We had a blast dissecting that lack of speech content!

Made the medical scene on Monday

Mark Hoffmeister was here and I told him I wanted to make some medical appointments!  First, I wanted to get a shingles shot!  Dr Kasten wanted me to have one but I told him I would get it later!  Then Julia, my sister, got shingles and I wanted to get my shot!  I also wanted to get my eyes checked since I got a card from LensCrafters and I wanted to be sure my cataracts were fine!  He sat it all up for yesterday morning and we got it all done!

Even treated ourselves to El Sol where I ran into Janelle McCrite who I worked with at alumnus!

Lana and Lee Piner wedding

Bruce Gentry and I officiated at the wedding of Lana Abercrombie Andrews and Lee Piner yesterday in Ste Genevieve!  In spite of torrential rain and her losing her ring, it was a beautiful wedding and I was pleased to be asked to officiate!   She was my secretary for years and I want her to be happy!   And this looks like it is happening!

In honor of your birthday, I am cleaning my house and Heather is out doing errands.  Raphael and Angelia have been here helping move furniture and I am waiting to hear from John Welch about the leak and torn up dining room!  

I am leaving at two to do wedding at Ste Genevieve for Lana Andrews!  Big Day!

Lazy Saturday

I am taking another day off and have nothing planned deliberately!  Who knows what i will end up doing..if anything!  Not feeling bad just have a need to recoup and regroup!   Happy Birthday Laurie!

Do nothing day

Planned it this way and intend to do whatever I choose including nothing!  I like sleeping in, not getting out of my pajamas all day and vegetating!  Besides I am watching television waiting for them to catch the prison breakouts and seeing the ditz that helped them escape!

I needed this quiet day when I can live in someone's excitement!

Lunch with Rehka Patterson, women's basketball coach

Went to El Sol with Rehka Patterson , the new women's basketball coach, who played at Baylor University!   Five of her freshmen are coming in today and she is excited!  Love her enthusiasm!

No time for news today: action required!

Can't take time to muse or send pics!  I am swamped getting ready for workmen coming in to check out water damage in the dining room and updating alarm system!  Thank goodness, Mark Hoffmeister is here to answer questions and deal with problems!

It will be a long day, I fear!

Tuesday workday

Three things on agenda today so I am stuck at home until those things are done:  Bruce Gentry is coming over to talk to me about the wedding we are doing Sunday, the men are coming from Liley granite to put on makeup mirror in and Gloria is here so I am set to go!

Weekend over in a whiff!

Betty Hearnes was up and talked at museum on Saturday and party at Bella on Sunday night for Donna Delgada of Baptist Student Center and it was fun party!  I met Debbi johns,  barb Kinsey's friend!  

Today I had a lunch appt with Cindi Hawke but it cancelled because she is sick!  Mark is here upgrading my adt system because we had a breakin in neighborhood!  Yuk!  Always something!

The once First Lady

Matt porter and I went to the Museum in town yesterday to hear Betty Hearnes speak!  It brought back all kinds of memories and I enjoyed the remembering!    It is nice to think about those days!

A Kim Jenne Day

Yes I know that Beau Biden is being buried today and yes, I know American Pharoah is running for the Triple Crown today and I want to see both the events but I am not involved personally although I feel the pain of family's!   But tonight Kim Jenne is being ordained into the Methodist Church and I will be watching on line!   This is my Kim Jenne who was in my homecoming committee on campus and I will be insolently cheering her on tonight!  Congrats, to the cutch and to you, Kim!

Still feeling bad! I need another recovery day to get over this sinus infection!

Had to cancel everything yesterday and stay home and rest!

Getting out a bit today with Carol Robinson!

We are heading for Gordonville Grille to idle away the day!  We will talk Bsc but mostly laugh!  I am not feeling productive today!  And that is okay!  I finally learned that lesson!  But I am trying to find a job for Heather Collier who was up here yesterday!

Hey I made it all thru Monday!

Made the speech for peo about the men in my life at chateau and then came home for an hour and went to Farmington to make a presentation to church there!  All that with very little sleep!

It was a big day and I was glad to see the bed!

Monday morning going up!

I got up this morning, with little sleep, and tried to greet the day!  I realized that it would be long and full and I was already tired!  So I made some allowances that would give me more time!  

Trudy Lee will pick me up at 12:30 to give a speech at her peo meeting at chateau and then I leave with Bruce Gentry at 4 to go to Farmington and make a presentation with him for the association of churches!   Yes, I have a full day!
