Ready to start a new week!

Can't believe I lived thru last week with two parties in St Louis, and Presidents council down here!  But I saw a lot of friends and it was fun!   This week will be easier. I need to clean my house and get my shoes ready for Soles for Souls!

Last day of February!  I will write checks and get ready for March!  Spring is around the corner!

St. Louis Birthday party

Last night Joan Gohn and I went to St. Louis for the birthday party of Steve Newman and we had a great night seeing them!  Actually we had a devil of a time finding it and we were about late!  But Steve was thrilled to see us both and wanted to sit at our table!  He has dementia but he knew us right off the bat!  Gerald McDougall was there also and sat at our table!   Yes, I am beat this morning!  The party was at Lombardos at the airport!

Big Saturday

I had a wonderful time last night on campus at President's Council Dinner!  They did the musical"On the Town" and I loved that old musical with Gene Kelly and Ann Miller on the screen!  My friend, Charlie Stamp, was honored with Friend of University Award and all around me sat  friends:  Sara Bethune Gerau from Charleston and Kenn Stilson, now director of theatre and a Malden boy I helped raise when I lived there!  Fun night!

A night in St. Louis with football jocks

I went to St. Louis brewery..the only woman..last night in a van with Dutch Meyr, Bob Stolzer, Van Hitt and Dan pfeiffer and did I hear football!   About 60 other guys joined us in Kirkwood at the Brewery and the stories got better and better!  Did I feel out of place being the only woman?  Heck no😊. I don't think that ever dawned on them!  I saw some of my best friends and I was so happy I made the trip!

A busy life

I can't believe how lucky I am to still be able to go strong!   Coach Tuke is taking me to lunch. HE IS Semo football coach'. I don't think I have ever had as many people around me that show up and we laugh about everything!  I can't take people anymore who spend all their time bemoaning that the world is going to hell in a handbasket!

So snow or no snow I have miles to go before I sleep tonight!   Pic is Coach Tuke and me at event last week!

A lunch out with Anita Eby

Anita Delisle succeeded me as director of alumni services at Semo and we walked and rode a lot of miles together!  We had endless amounts of fun together and she had a comfortable space in pointing out my idiosyncrasies!  She made this old workhorse smell a few roses and A few rotten apples!  I taught her to recognize the differences!

Going back to my regular world

After a busy weekend filled with excitement, I sat on couch on Sunday in abject silence watching Golden Girls,  Then I got up and got dressed and went to the a b cooper ministries at Baptist Student Center for a fried chicken dinner with President Carlos Vargas and Pam!  As usual we had a blast and the student are learning to love fried Chicken!   I came home, talked to Sara and hit the bed!

Big day in Sikeston

Went to Sikeston yesterday with Vicki Boren to have lunch at Suzi's and ran into all kinds of people I knew including Jamee Shelby, Jerry Ford, Louis Watkins who was a college buddy of mine and Steve McPheeters who I taught when he was in the third grade at Malden!  What a fun day!

Yesterday we had a fundraiser at Gordonville grill!

The money went to A b Cooper ministries  and people came out in a beautiful non-threatening snowfall!  The flakes were huge!  It was so appropriate for honoring a ministry named for my dad!  Pure as the driven snow, as he would say!

Sri Lankan valentines visit

I had a valentines visit with Aron and Angelina yesterday and their parents who were visiting from Sri Lanka!  They came with gifts and Matt Porter came also!  I had a wonderful day:  yellow roses from Mark, lunch with Dutch Meyr and an afternoon with my scholarship recipient and her family!  Life is good!

Spent the day yesterday hearing and dealing with problems!

I went to bed and tossed and turned thinking about all the problems I had heard all day and wishing I could help!  Maybe it helped because someone really listened and cared!  But I'm not satisfied with being a sounding board!

I wrestled because I want to be of some help!  These people have real problems!

Beautiful Saturday!

Called Gene Schippers to come clean the yard and gave him a rock star Valentine candy!  Sticks are gone!   I went out and surveyed it and knew we were ready for company!

Ten minutes later Sindupa, Zainub and Raphael walked in, my adopted grandchildren!  What would they do if they did not have this house to hang in!

Valentines comes early!

I hosted a luncheon for the volunteers, some of them, who help each week at a b Cooper ministries!  They come from different churches but it works for us!   Besides, we have a common goal and that is keeping this together and feeding the hungry!

Jane Stephens

Jane Stephens, who served as Provost under Dobbins, has been a long-time friend and even lived in my house when we moved to Wildwood!  I have always been grateful for her friendship with Jennie!

So yesterday we went to eat and chat and it was just us!  We both just needed to visit and revisit!

Chinese New Year

Last night Tim Schulte and his crew came up from Wappapello and cooked chicken and dumplings for our A B Cooper Ministries and was it good!  The international students loved American dumplings!

Kay Story teaches English conversation and Chris told us about the symbols in the Chinese New Year decoration!  Note the firecrackers!
