Altenburg Adventure
Carol Robinson and I went to Altenburg yesterday for one express purpose: the newspapers listed three places in Southeast Missouri in the top ten places to get a great hamburger! They were Kirbys at Sikeston, Schindler 's tavern and Mississippi Mud Saloon in Altenburg! We headed for the Saloon! Found it! Unfortunately it didn't open until 3! So we found the east End Tavern open! It should have been on the list with its mustard pita taro salad!

The lunch bunch
Yesterday I went out to eat with Tyler Tankersly, the new pastor of First Baptist here in Cape and we went to My Daddy's! The trouble was that we knew everyone who came in and they came up to the table! Tyler grew up here and he even visited with his elementary teacher, Barbara Popp!

Staying in touch with university
I spent most of yesterday dealing with people and lists from University and went over history that I knew like the back of my hand to people who had not lived thru it and had sketchy history! Some things I let rest in death and that was best! So had lunch with Krissi Cox and meeting at house with Trudy Lee! Both are at the Foundation!

Starting the day with coffee and chemistry
Every day brings its own reward! Coffee with chemistry professor, Jim McGill, and we will discuss my latest project, a history of the Provosts of Semo! I want to put the pieces together and have it for the ages to read, and then I want to talk to Frank Nickell! I actually heard from Soren Petrek and Lee Meyer yesterday! This is a good thing and I worked like a researcher yesterday! We have had ten provosts. They need to be researched and filed!

After the weekend
Bev Hickam came by Saturday and we went to lunch at My Daddy's! She is a real friend and started out working for me! She lets me know her opinion and I value it! She loves my children and asks me about each of them every time we are together! I trust her implicitly! That is a great feeling and gift!

Eleven degrees and brr.....
Last night we handed out blankets and gloves and scarfs to the international students who just arrived from India, Nepal and Bangladesh! I cleaned out coats I had not worn in years and were the students glad to get them! Check out Niharika Sareen from India in my gray coat I haven't worn in years!

Sara and Dan are going to Israel in February
I went to Israel in 1990 with Joy and Ken Johnston and the Methodists! Boots tenkhoff was my roommate from Charleston and Dorothy Defield from Charleston went😀, and it was a wonderful trip! I remember two young female pastors who went with us: Carrie Gates and Nancy Schaeffer and how much I enjoyed them! But what I remember most was riding the Camel!

Oversleeping is good!
I am not a good sleeper but i tossed and turned but when I went to sleep, I went to sleep and slept until ten! So I'm woozy and unkempt this morning and I am hoping against hope that no one comes by until I get my wits about me!
Too much being inside will make you crazy!

Getting ready to leave the house today! Hallelujah!
I am excited to leave the house today after a few days of staying in trying to feel better. How much television can one watch without going ballistic? I have pushed it for me!
Brian Tracy speaks for me: "You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you!"

Proud of Bryan Stacy
I'm always proud of him but I was thrilled about his new mural commission in Wilmington on exterior buildings! I will make my plans to go and see this when it is finished! Very important legacy!

Feeling better today!
Nothing changes your plans like a bug that attacks you! But I am getting back out into real life today! I need a reality check!
Bruce gentry came by yesterday and we had a reality check together and today I am going to meet with Chrisy at Development! That should be a sort of check also!

Michael Braun and El Chapo
I was sitting here yesterday watching Wolf Blitzer on news and up came a picture and interview with Michael Braun, Semo class of 1977 and AMA recipient here! Could not believe it! He was head of operations at DEA and he talked about the capture of El Chapo, the drug lord in Mexico! It is one small world! I'm calling him today because I've been in his fan club forever!

Bev Hickam lunch
She will never let me take her pic but we did have a long lunch and discussion! I know she will be honest with me and doesn't say what I want to hear! I told her that I was doing some soul-searching and wanted to be sure that my time was not being used by trying to help people to no avail! She agreed with my decision to be of use or back off! I like her words: there are plenty of fish in the sea who would jump at the chance to learn from you! Thanks, Bev! I needed that!

I made Monday count for something!
I want to make every day count for something for someone! Yesterday I had lunch with Ruhksar Armoo, a student from Bangladesh at Cafe n me, a Thai restaurant! We have no concept of the lives people lead and the worries they try to carry alone! I kidded Her about how hot her food was since she wanted the works! She is starting an internship here!

Monday shoutout!
Sorry I missed your call, Jim! I was out running around buying new dishes and getting a Coke with Raphael! Then I went out for pizza with Matt and Kendra and Sherwin! It was sunny and I didn't even wear a coat! No one can predict our weather! River has crested!

Ball game win
I went to hospital to see Harriett and she is better. Will need six weeks of therapy! Then Matt and I met our BSC crew at the game to watch the women win again! And they did! I only go to women's games but I bring a following!

A Joan Gohn luncheon
The only time I left the house yesterday was to go to lunch with Joan Gohn at Bob Evans and we visited with a slew of people and talked weather! St Mary's was evacuated yesterday! Most of the parking area at restaurant was flooded out! Calls are coming from friends like Joan and Steve Newman to see if I am safe! I thank everyone but Red Star district is badly flooded! I will be out among them today! Cold but sunny outside!

Harriett is much better!
She has to have therapy but they have to see how much comes back! She is as tough as nails and I told her upfront to get it out of her head that she was going anywhere and leaving me behind! I left and made Matt stay with me all day! We toured the devastation with all the other "tragedy gawkers"! That is Matts term!
We ate lunch at Olive Garden, bought me a new sweeper, everyday dishes ( I gave all mine away to a Russian couple who had none) and then ended up at women's game at Semo! We beat that team bad! So I feel better! I cried so hard that I was exhausted last night!
